Chinks of darkness: a visual postscript

In my previous post, I described how my mood had sometimes felt almost totally dark, but with occasional chinks of light breaking through, while at other times it had seemed almost relatively ‘normal’, except that there were chinks of darkness bursting up from somewhere.

This is what depression looks like at times, when I’m in the cave:

Person walking through a cave in darkness, with a shaft of light from above penetrating the cave ahead of them
Chinks of light reaching the cave

At other times, though, it can look like this, when I’m on the surface but the cave is still there:

Person walking above ground, with a cave beneath them, and a shaft of darkness emanating from a hole in the cave roof ahead of the person
Chinks of darkness escaping the cave

Excuse the terrible sketches – I just felt that a visual aid was called for.
